Joy Stein

Joy Stein lives in Springdale, Utah, just outside of Zion National Park, where you will now and then find her rock-climbing. She recently returned from a 5-week trip to Africa and some of the images she captured are on exhibit here. A solo show of her work will open in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the Chapman Branch of the Salt Lake Library (577 South 900 West) and run from April 3–May 29, 2006. Her artwork is represented by the Zion Canyon Gallery in Springdale, Utah.

"It is an immense world out there," she says. "I've chosen to focus on some of the details — the galaxy in a dewdrop, seeds contained in the most extraordinary pod, a gnarled root at the base of an ancient tree. I see tiny capsules of pattern, texture and color."
